- Visually inspect the cylinder and check the pressure gauge
- Make sure the extinguisher is within the needed hydrostatic and internal maintenance intervals
- After this process, a new certification tag will be attached as well as a tamper-proof seal around the pin to ensure the extinguisher maintains that proper state.
- A six-year maintenance inspection is a more detailed inspection that entails:
- Emptying the contents of the fire extinguisher
- Examination of the outlet hose, mechanics, and delivery system by a licensed expert
- Refilling and re-pressurizing the extinguisher
- A silver self-destructing six-year maintenance inspections tag is then placed on the back of the cylinder stating the date and type of inspection that was performed.
